Report from Val Kirby about the  Stroud Preservation Trust's Wassail Event on 18 January 2026:

The South Chapel was decorated with greenery and lights, and we had a pretend apple tree with glittery apples.

We were entertained by The Chapel Waites with a version of John Barleycorn rewritten to tell the story of the Chapels and some carols.

Ypotryll, with Simon Pickard on medieval harp and bagpipes (not at the same time!) and Karen Jones singing, performed medieval songs including the local Llanthony Carol.

Howard Beard read two funny stories and I read some Wassail poems.

You can watch a short video from this event by clicking here.

There was mulled wine and juice and Somerset apple cake.

We raised £200 towards the restoration of the windows.

Renovation Plans For 2026:

Plans are a foot to start work mending the South Chapel roof, doing the necessary plasterwork inside, removing the block work, etc from the windows, and deciding what to do with the mezzanine.

This work should start in March 2026.
