Camilla Hale - Chair
An SPT trustee since 2005, Camilla brings a wealth of experience in fundraising and event management. A Stroud resident since 1985 she has always been involved in local community arts and community planning. She chaired Stroud Valleys Project for some years, and currently develops new arts projects, fundraises and mentors
Chris Gill - Treasurer
Chris is a retired Chartered Surveyor and was project manager for Stroud Town Council for the Lansdown Hall renovations and new builds. He was co-opted to Stroud Preservation Trust in November 2016 and formally voted in as a trustee at the AGM in October 2017. Chris also is a volunteer with the Woodchester Mansion Trust and is a keen advocate for the conservation and sustainable uses of heritage buildings.
Steve Hurrell - Company Secretary
Since 2005 he has helped regenerate the Brunel Goods Shed. He recorded this transformation using photography whilst gradually increasing the pictorial archive of all the Trust's projects. As a town councillor (until 2016) he was involved with the improvements to Lansdown Hall and Gallery, a Grade 11 listed building, following its purchase by the council as a village hall for Stroud.
Rachel Russell
A Trustee since 2012, Rachel Russell has worked at English Heritage, various housing associations and a housing co-op. She moved to Stroud in 2006 and believes historic buildings are a precious resource, rich in embodied skill, energy and history, which can continue to benefit us all.
Hugh Barton
Hugh Barton is Emeritus Professor of planning, health and sustainability, working on radical new books integrating health and well-being into planning at the University of the West of England. He lives in Stroud and brought up his children in the town. His hobbies include cycling, mountain walking, singing and conducting.
Andrew Davy BA (Hons), DipArch
Andrew is a RIBA chartered architect and a registered Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Partner based in Stroud. He set up practice in 2009 after 12 years working in key roles in a number of respected London-based architectural offices.
Andrew has considerable experience of working within the conservation field. This has included public buildings, in particular with Long and Kentish architects - the extension to the Grade 1 listed Pallant House Gallery in Chichester, and the refurbishment and extension of the Grade 2* listed Porthmeor Artist's studios, School of Painting and fishermen's cellars in St Ives. He undertook the SPAB (Society for the Preservation of Ancient Buildings) Repair of Old Buildings Course for construction professionals in 2005.
Jon Lowe BA (Hons), Arch MCIFA
Following a degree in architecture Jon worked in archaeology, recording and analysing historic buildings, before specialising in the assessment of heritage significance. As an independent heritage consultant he advises architects, developers and owners on sites ranging from Westminster Abbey to Battersea Power Station. A full member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeology and formerly a sessional tutor on the MA Archaeology degree at Birkbeck College.
